Maintenance sync for the tutorial Polars vs pandas: What's the Difference?.

What changed

  • streaming_test.py: analyze_polars_lazyframe() now calls .collect(engine="in-memory"). Since Polars 2.0, LazyFrame.collect() resolves to the streaming engine by default, so the script was comparing streaming against streaming.
  • requirements.txt: re-pinned to the article's updated dependencies (Python 3.14, polars 2.1.0, pandas 3.1.0, pyarrow 26.0.0, narwhals 2.28.0, altair 6.3.0, matplotlib 3.11.2, jupyterlab 4.6.5), regenerated as a full freeze.

Verification

Fresh Python 3.14.9 venv installed from the new pins. Ran benchmark.py 500, streaming_test.py 100000, conversions.py, and pandas_polars_demo.py (all exit 0), executed plots.ipynb with jupyter nbconvert --execute and MPLBACKEND=Agg (no errors). ruff@0.14.1 format --check and ruff check pass.
