Prelude to #1824

I know that version matching is no longer strictly necessary, following recent updates, but I wanted to fix the semantic version duplication anyway.

I also tried to tidy up the README a bit, which I found confusing (esp. regarding the relationship between the install method, R interactive and arf). Please let me know if I have misunderstood something w.r.t. where I've moved chunks of text.

Reviewed 65a78c8; no actionable issues found. The 3.2.0 bump works with the source-revision installation checks and the independent protocol_version handshake. The README's bundled/manual installation sections and relocated R Interactive/arf note match the current setup paths.

Validated locally on macOS with R 4.6.1: all six source/bootstrap/VSIX metadata tests, the base-R source identity and managed installer tests, and installation of the prepared sess 3.2.0 bundle with Interactive compatibility/load verification. The installed version and source revision also matched the prepared bundle. CI status was not verified.

I don't quite understand. Shouldn't the sess version update be done at the same time as the extension itself, right before the release?

Yes, but I thought you were about to release it? Regardless, feel free to merge once 3.2.0 is ready.
