LookInside is a Mac app that lets you click through your iOS or macOS app UI and see every view, layer, frame, and property live.
- Website: lookinside-app.com
- Server package: LookInside-Release
LookInside continues the work of Lookin, the original iOS view debugger.
- Download LookInside from the Releases page. It runs on macOS 14 or later.
- Add the server package to the app you want to inspect.
- Run your app.
- Open LookInside on your Mac and pick the running app.
LookInside 2.3.11 and later include a local MCP server for Codex, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, and other MCP clients. Agents can inspect hierarchies, attributes, screenshots, and UI changes through the app you already opened in LookInside.
See the MCP configuration and usage guide.
- UIKit, AppKit, and SwiftUI view trees
- Frames, layers, screenshots, and resolved properties
- SwiftUI modifiers and layout details
- Live property changes while your app is running
SwiftUI inspection needs LookInside Pro, as a trial or a license. Activation runs inside LookInside itself; it no longer installs a separate helper app. The activation code is part of this repository.
If you activated an earlier version, your activation carries over. The first time the new version uses your existing activation key, macOS asks for your login keychain password. Choose Always Allow so it does not ask again. Going back to an earlier version keeps working too.
Use LookInside-Release with Swift Package Manager or CocoaPods.
