Granular Spans for AutoFunctionLoop?

Since not hearing back from feature owner, I put this to general discussion: #12080.

Essentially, I want to find a way to have granular spans on each functional calling within the spans to have more ideas on why things are slow and to improve with proofs. Right now it is good to have spans over tools, but it sees the majority of time is not from the tool. Any ideas?
